The Eden Valley-Watkins Student Council Shoe Drive has been extended until Nov. 22.  Still got some gently used shoes lying around? There is still time to donate.  Their goal is 100 bags of shoes. Farmers & Merchants State Bank is one of the drop-off points. We’re happy to help by collecting and delivering them to Eden Valley Elementary.

Here’s a bit more about how the drive works.

The Eden Valley-Watkins Student Council will earn funds based on the total weight of the pairs of gently worn, used, and new shoes collected.  The organization behind the drive, Funds2Orgs, will issue a check for the collected shoes. These dollars will benefit the Eden Valley-Watkins Student Council. Anyone can help by donating gently worn, used, and new shoes of ANY kind at Eden Valley Elementary or the Eden Valley Library.

All donated shoes will then be redistributed throughout the Funds2Orgs network of micro-enterprise (small business) partners. Funds2Orgs works with micro-entrepreneurs in helping them create, maintain, and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.  Proceeds from the sales of the shoes collected in shoe drive fundraisers are used to feed, clothe, and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti has reported to have  earned enough to send to her son to law school.

Please share this event with friends, family members, neighbors and customers. Download this EVW Shoe Drive Info Sheet to learn or share.  Thank you for helping us help them beat their goal!
